Fine Silver Mini Naja Necklace
This Naja necklace is completely recycled! I am a PMC (precious metal clay) artist and sometimes what I create doesn't fulfill the vision I had for it. So it goes into the scrap jar to be sintered, or melted, with a torch later. I've been collecting fine silver scrap for about 8 years and I decided that it is time to use that silver! Each silver ball on the Naja is made of fine silver which is 99.9% pure silver. Precious Metal Clay also comes from recycled jewelry and the genuine silver bits that come out of electronics.
After torch firing the silver into granulation (that's what we call the silver balls), I soldered them onto a fine silver crescent. I oxidized the Naja, polished it, and tumbled it to make it shine for you. The chain is patterned sterling silver that has also been lightly oxidized in order to show detail. The chain is complete with a sterling silver heart clasp which is very easy to use. It is pictured with an 18 inch chain, but if you would like your necklace to measure between 16 and 20 inches, please leave a note at checkout. (If you don't leave a note on size, you will receive an 18 inch length chain)
The mini Naja measures 1-1/4 inches tall by 1-1/4 inches wide.
History of the Naja:
The Naja is a very old symbol for luck or to ward off the evil eye. The Spanish Moors would put the symbol on their horses and camels a thousand years ago. They taught Mexicans how to metalsmith who taught the Navajo. The Navajo named the crescent symbol the Naja and have incorporated this design into their jewelry, an ancient symbol for luck passed and shared between many cultures.
This necklace ships in 1-3 business days. It will be packaged in an anti-tarnish bag and placed in a Kraft gift box with a fair trade silk sari ribbon wrapped around it.
